Surgical menopause happens when a woman’s ovaries are removed, often due to cancer risk, endometriosis, or other serious conditions. The hormonal change is immediate, and the physical, emotional, and mental impact can be overwhelming.
In Aotearoa, there’s currently no dedicated printed information for women going through this life-changing experience. Many are left unsupported when they need clarity and care the most. We’re working to change that.
Surgical Menopause New Zealand Trust, a small, woman-led charity, has created the first surgical menopause booklet in Aotearoa. It's clear, supportive, evidence-based and grounded in lived experience - the resource we wish we’d been given ourselves.

About us
Surgical Menopause New Zealand Trust is a registered charity supporting women in Aotearoa through surgery-induced menopause. We provide information, advocacy and peer support to improve care, raise awareness and ensure no woman is left in the dark.
Use of funds
Funds will cover printing and nationwide distribution (including postage) of our surgical menopause booklet, plus a brochure, poster and business cards to raise awareness. Any surplus will go towards our operating costs.

Our surgical menopause booklet is now ready, and we’re officially launching the print campaign! 3 November 2025
A few months ago, we launched this campaign before the booklet was available online. The first surgical menopause booklet in Aotearoa is now live as a PDF on our website!
We’re now focused on getting this vital resource in clinical settings across Aotearoa, so patients can access a tangible, high-quality guide when they need it most.
