Wellington Access Radio is facing an increasing financial struggle to keep community voices on air - and we need your help!
Wellington
Wellington Access Radio is the station that is BY, FOR and ABOUT our communities. We exist to remove barriers to broadcasting and to make sure that everyone in our community gets a voice.
However, it’s getting harder to keep our space accessible to everyone. We're facing increased costs - transmission, rent, insurance and more - but we have no extra funding.
One thing we really don’t want to do is pass on these increased costs to our amazing group of over 200 programme-makers, who create over 90 diverse radio shows and podcasts in over 15 different languages. We're very aware that increased costs can create barriers to those who need this space the most.
This August we need your support to keep community voices on air. All money raised will go directly to covering the broadcasting costs of shows that range from Pasifika health, to disability news, high school student shows, local arts, music and culture, refugee and migrant voices, LGBTQIA+ shows, and so, so many more.
Any small amount that you can give this month would be hugely appreciated by all of us at the station, as well as our many programme-makers who work hard to create essential community content.
Wellington Access Radio is the station that’s by, for and about our community. We’re a non-profit, grassroots charity which provides a platform of representation for groups not usually heard in mainstream media, alongside arts, music, and local culture.
