Help Youth get to Camp!

SUNZ runs adventure and leadership camps across New Zealand for year 7 to 13 youth. Our camps are run with the help of a group of volunteer leaders and a small number of paid staff. Our aim is to make camps financially accessible, safe, fun, and life-changing. Because of safety, medical and other administrative requirements we need to have a full-time admin person to support these camps. In order for us to keep registration fees accessible, we need additional funding to fully cover the costs of administering our camps.

Meet Karen Poy, our brand new camps admin person. Karen’s role is vital in running our camps ministry. She manages all our youth camps nationwide. This year alone we have had over 20 youth camps and Karen has done a stellar job facilitating over 400 registrations making sure people get to camp. She also crucially works to ensure our camps meet an overwhelming number of safety requirements. Karen interacts with people at every level of camps almost every day — from campers and their parents/guardians to camp leaders, camp directors, staff and suppliers. If you have a question or a problem, Karen is our superstar for you!

These camps change lives and every camping season we receive comments, emails and facebook posts from youth and their families about the impact camp has made on their lives. One dad recently contacted us and said “I don’t know what you did on camp but my son has come home a changed young man. Thank you!” Outcomes like this keep us running our camps and keep our volunteer leaders returning to camp after camp.

We need to raise funds to support Karen’s salary so that we can continue to keep the costs to the campers as low as possible and keep SUNZ camps accessible for the young people who will benefit from them.

Helping us to cover these costs may make a life-changing difference to the youth and families reached through our camps as your support will make the difference between some campers being able to attend or not.
