Support Hilary Hague as SUNZ National Director

Hi

I’m Hilary and I want to see children and young people right across New Zealand discover and follow Jesus.

I’m the National Director at Scripture Union New Zealand and I really believe in what we do — support churches to help children and young people discover Jesus and become lifelong disciples who serve the world around them. These are not just words. They are our calling, and I am passionate about it. A recent study found that only 33% of New Zealanders identified themselves as Christian, and only 16% of those go to church*. I believe SUNZ has an important role to play in working with churches to help change these statistics.

SUNZ has worked to inspire lifelong discipleship in children and young people for many years. We have worked with thousands of children and young people on camps, in schools, at leadership training events and through mentoring. Because we’re Scripture Union, we have tried to see that growing faith grounded in Bible engagement and prayer.

The story of David** is very typical of the work we do. His caregiver wrote to us after one of our camps and said:

“We could hardly believe our ears at the things David was telling us about the snow camp he’s been on with you all this past week. More than we dreamed possible! He was so open about his faith experience and so happy to share it, also to meet up with his friend at a nearby church soon. He had so much fun and is just bubbling over with happiness and confidence — such a contrast from the anxious boy we dropped off last Sunday.”
