Renato Tolog (Rene) is an Overseas Filipino Worker in New Zealand, currently working as a builder since March 2016. He was granted a one year working visa which will expire early next year.
On September 12, 2016 he was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital due to severe tummy pain which was later on diagnosed as appendicitis. He was then taken to the theatre to be operated. He went home from the hospital with a $14,619.72 bill (breakdown/proof of the bill as pictured).
As if that was bad enough, 2 weeks after the operation he got admitted back to the hospital due to an infection on the operated site. He was put on an IV antibiotic for almost a week. He went home this time with a $8,000 bill (amount could be less or more, final bill has not arrived yet.. but hospital stay is around $1300 per night, if not more, plus the cost of the antibiotic). Proof of bill will be provided once it arrives. :)
Because Kuya Rene has no health insurance and has only been granted a one year visa, he cannot claim the free medical service here in New Zealand. He is now left to pay the bills by himself.
He came here to work, save money and support his family back home but at the moment he is finding it hard to make ends meet. He has been out of work for almost a month now, which means no income for him. His visa will expire in a few months time which means he will need to save money to spend for his visa renewal application as well as the medical fees needed for the application.
We are knocking on your kind hearts to please help out our brother in need. Every dollar counts and we will make sure to put every donated money to clear up his hospital bill and help with his financial needs. All proceeds will be given directly to Rene.
We welcome inquiries and questions. If you want to contact Rene by himself, contact details can be provided.
I am Renato's friend. We attend the same church at the Christchurch Filipino SDA Church, NZ. He is also currently living at our house. My husband and I had been with him when he got hospitalised and we know how bad his financial struggle is at the moment. We know how much he will appreciate all your help and donation.
