Jane Pryor is a mother of two who enjoys life in Tauranga.
Jane has two children, Liam (9yrs) and Savanna (6yrs) who live with her.
Jane has a loving and supporting family and many friends who care about her.
In mid 2014 Jane, who has always remained physically fit and in excellent health, suffered a seizure. This was the first time Jane had suffered such an event.
Following a consultation with her doctor Jane was referred to Waikato Hospital Neurological Dept.
Following a variety of scans and tests Jane received the diagnosis of Aterial, Venus Malformation (AVM). The very large size of the mass in Jane’s brain has precluded all options for treatment other than high risk surgery to attempt to remove the mass.
Failure to treat the problem brings the high probability of a fatal brain bleed from the aneurysm.
Jane is faced with the choice of doing nothing and continuing to suffer seizures and the progressive deterioration of her mental and physical health with the high probability of suffering a fatal brain bleed sooner rather than later.
The only other choice is to undergo the risky surgical procedure. With her children’s future in mind, as well as her own chances for improved quality of life, Jane has chosen to undergo the surgical option.
The date of surgery is March 25th.
Jane has been advised she may require up to three months recovery time in hospital and is likely to require extensive rehabilitation after that. She may suffer paralysis, blindness, loss of speech etc all of which will require a lengthy period of support.
Following her discharge from hospital Jane is likely to require regular attendance at Waikato hospital for monitoring and rehabilitation. This will require considerable expense and support.
Jane’s children will remain in Jane’s home in the care of family members and friends.
Any money donated will be gratefully received and used for travel to and from Hamilton as required, to ensure Jane’s children are able to remain secure in their home with rental and associated living costs covered. In addition the cost of travel for the children to and from Hamilton to visit their mother during her recovery and rehabilitation period will be covered by donations received.
Liam and Savanna are also likely to be away from school quite a bit, donations will help towards a tutor for them.
Donations provided will assist Jane to feel more secure knowing her financial security and that of her children is assured as the time approaches for this risky procedure.
