Our darling cat Rosie is in need of life-saving surgery for her kidneys.
Auckland
We have received the sudden news that our beloved 1-in-a-million cat Rosie is suffering from kidney stones that are damaging her kidneys. She is only 5 years old and there is a surgery the vets can do to replace the tube between her kidney and bladder with an artificial one that is wider to prevent blockages occurring. This surgery will likely save her as it has a very high chance of success and full/near full recovery. However, this surgery needs to be performed as soon as possible (aka ideally within 24-48 hours) and it is very expensive. Sadly we simply don't have the money to save her ourselves, nor the time to save up for the surgery. Several friends have suggested we set up a fundraising page so we have made this as a last resort.
Rosie is like a child to us, anyone who has met her can attest to her being more like a human than a cat. She is exceedingly affectionate, talkative and hilarious, and she has brought sunshine to us on some of our darkest days. The fact that she will very likely pass away soon without this intervention is heartbreaking for us, knowing that there was a chance to save her. Anything you can give would mean the world to us and get us closer to saving her, all funds will go directly towards her medical treatment at Animal Referral Centre. We are dedicating 100% of our savings towards this, but the surgery and associated costs are very expensive due to it being a rather specialised operation. The fundraising goal is at the minimum we need to reach to go ahead with the surgery, but every dollar counts as we will continue to seek alternative ways of paying to support any donations.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this.

Rosie's in Recovery! 23 August 2020
Hello again everyone ❤ What a hectic few days. We've gone from trying to grapple with the shocking heartbreaking news that we would likely have to say goodbye to Rosie, to suddenly having everything turn around so quickly. We are overwhelmed by the way that the selfless love of others has allowed things to turn out so differently than we had feared, the life-saving surgery that was once so out of reach has now been completed and Rosie is in recovery!!!!! So far everything seems to have gone really well, if Rosie's tests keep showing her kidneys are kicking back into action then she could even be home as soon as Monday! It all just feels like a whirlwind of a miracle and we are blown away that everyone rallying around us has allowed this to happen. To all of you kind souls who have reached out with kind messages of support, prayed for miracles, or generously given, we cannot thank you enough. This givealittle page has allowed us to bridge the daunting gap between what we could scrape together ourselves and what was needed to make this happen for wee Rosie. Every dollar that has been so kindly given is one less that we will have to take out in a loan to pay the final bill, and it's hard to find the words to express what a world of difference that makes to us living off of just part time jobs. We simply would not have ever made it to this point without you all - strangers, friends and family. To those who we will hopefully be able to give thank you hugs to soon, and to the sneaky anonymous people we will never know to thank, we hope you all know how beloved you are to us. We will never be able to shake the feeling of being so surrounded far and wide with unconditional love and support. We hope that someday in some way we can return back to you the love you've shown us!
Simon, I wish we could thank you more personally than just commenting here, but for now this will have to do to let you know, whoever you are, that we are so grateful for your support. Your generosity has warmed our hearts so much, thank you for helping us save our wee cat!
Gabrielle, we are so touched by your kindness and help at a time when it is so valued. Thank you for caring about our wee sick cat, it means the world to us! <3
I wish I could thank you personally for not only giving so kindly, but for making the total donations a nice round number haha. It's almost as satisfying as all the love and support we feel from you supporting us to save Rosie :) Thank you so much
