Sushil's house was demolished by the earthquakes in Nepal. His family now live in a tent purchased with donated funds. They need a house!

The earthquake in Nepal demolished Sushil's house & I learned they were sleeping outside in the open. I asked Sushil if I could post him a tent but was informed that it would never reach him as would be "captured" by the government first. Instead I collected and sent money via Western Union. Sushil used it to purchase a tent for his family and he shared the tent and money with others less fortunate in his village. Monsoon season is coming. Their tent is continually being battered by storms. Our dream is to BUILD a small “cottage” to protect them more adequately than the tent. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THIS HAPPEN!! Sushil has obtained a detailed quote for building a basic house without electricity or water. The price for materials is NPR 450,000 which converts to NZD$6,054. The price for labour is NPR 250,000 which converts to NZD$3,360. The total required is NZD$9,414 but Sushil plans to use family and friends for the bulk of the labour to minimise the labour cost, utilising the experts for the important parts which need council sign-off.
A few years ago I travelled to Nepal and met Sushil. My number one memory of NEPAL is the PEOPLE. I truly learnt the meaning of gratitude, kindness & KARMA. Nepali people would gladly share their last bowl of rice with you today even if it meant going hungry tomorrow. My friend Sushil is a true example of this unselfish generosity. I would love to help make a difference in his family's life with YOUR help.
Today I sent $2,600 to Sushil thanks to YOU! 13 August 2015
Sushil's uncle has membership to a community forest and can apply for permission to cut down trees to build a house. This means the logs can be acquired at a much cheaper cost. Today I sent ALL the money I have raised so far to enable Sushil to put a deposit on the logs and start the process. It takes a while for all the paperwork to be processed. In the meantime Sushil has managed to get a JOB as a van driver! This means he can help towards paying the rent for little mud hut the family now lives in! Our calculations for building a new house show that if we can raise about $1,000 more we should be good! Thanks so much to everyone for your support xx
