Holy Trinity Silverdale Restoration Project has raised $76,000 as at 31st Dec and we are continuing to reach out to the Community.
Silverdale, Auckland
Holy Trinity Church, a cherished Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga Category 2 Historic Place, stands as a testament to our local community's history. Constructed in 1885, this beautiful Selwyn-style church, crafted by the community from locally milled pit-sawn Kauri, has been a place of worship for over 138 years. In 2005, it was moved from its original site by the Rodney District Council to make way for an extension of Silverdale Street. It is currently located beside the cemetery, where it continues to serve as an iconic cornerstone of our community.
However, our beloved Holy Trinity Church faces critical challenges. The eastern side requires repiling due to issues from the 2005 relocation. Also, the wooden Kauri structure urgently requires substantial restoration, including window frame replacement, exterior cladding replacement, addressing water penetration issues, and drainage improvements. The estimated cost is $300,000. Adding to the cost of repairs is the fact that the church has a Heritage New Zealand Category 2 listing and has protection as a Category B historic building under the Auckland Unitary Plan.
We are continuing with a fundraising campaign. We are calling upon our community to rally with us and contribute to the restoration of this iconic Heritage Church in the heart of Silverdale. We need your support to reach our goal.

Church Restoration.
We are nearly there! 18 July 2025
We have been fortunate during 2025 to receive two grants. The first one, at the beginning of the year, from Auckland Council for $50,000 and the second one, just received recently, from Lotteries Environment & Heritage for $110,000. To date we have raised $220,000. We are very grateful for the huge boost in funding that we have received and we are continuing to fundraise in the hope of commencing restoration before Christmas. Thank you to all donors for your gifting - it has made a difference and will enable this heritage church to continue to be a place of worship for many years to come.
Good morning Margaret Thank you so much for your very generous donation of $500 towards the restoration of Holy Trinity. It is a very special place of worship being the 'Mother Church' of the Hibiscus Coast and without large donors, such as yourself, this project will not come to fruition.. We are very grateful for your contribution towards this project. Kindest regards Lynette
Good morning Claire & Eion Firstly my apologies for not personally replying to your Givealittle donation earlier. Thank you both so much for your generous donation towards the Restoration of Holy Trinity. It is a very special place of worship being 'The Mother Church' of the Hibiscus Coast and without donors, such as yourselves, this project will not come to fruition. We are in the process of applying to other Community Trusts for financial support and with God's blessing, this project may begin towards the end of the year. Once again - thank you. We are most grateful for your donation and your continued support of this project. Kindest regards Lynette
