Judicial Review for Mount Richmond Otahuhu 2 October 2023
Respect Mt Richmond Otahuhu has created a new crowdfund campaign to help fund a legal challenge for a Judicial Review to stop the destruction of non-exotic trees on the mountain. Please support us again to reach the goal to raise $30k. We are well on our way to achieving this but still have a way to go.
60 mature trees have been recently felled at Mount Richmond Otahuhu, some were over 100 years old.
Thank you for your support on our journey so far.
The Judicial Review being heard in the High Court on December 5, 2023, is to “quash” cancel the currently approved resource consent permitting the co governance arrangements between Tupuna Maunga Authority and Auckland Council from clear felling perfectly healthy mature trees just because they are non-native.
Please support us with our new campaign.
Thank you Elliot for your donation, it’s much appreciated and will go towards the flyers for the current round of consultation with TMA. Ngaa mihi Shirley Waru
Thank you Harry, Mila and Poppy for your donation. The trees are very special providing our community an amazing place to walk, and our birds can’t do without them as we only have 8% of of tree canopy left in Ōtāhuhu/Mangere local board area.
Good morning Enrique, thank you for your donation. The trees are really important to our community and also to the birds that use them food, nesting and roosting. Let’s hope we can stop them from being felled this year as resource consent has been approved to clear fell these beautiful trees in our local park and reserve.
Morning Shirley thank you for your donation, it’s very much appreciated. It will go towards new signage we need for the park and mountain. Ngaa mihi Shirley Waru
