We are all volunteers, so YOUR DONATIONS ONLY GO TOWARDS mitigating the hard costs of printing, production and advertising.

If you haven’t already done so, it is very important to us that you visit us at www.yeswhangarei.co.nz and add your name to the YES supporters list.

Prosper Northland Trust's involvement (page creator)

Prosper Northland Trust is involved because their proposal is 1 of the 3 to be voted on in the March Referendum. Funds need to be raised to engage, inform & educate the people of Whangarei about the project before March

About us

In June 2014 the Whangarei District Council voted not to build the Hundertwasser Art Centre.

A group of concerned residents believed the city was throwing away a unique opportunity that would greatly affect Whangarei’s cultural and financial future. They agreed to meet to talk about a way to keep the project alive and very soon after Prosper Northland Trust (PNT) was formed.

Trustees are committed to working with members of their community, for the benefit of all Whangarei and Northland residents. While their immediate goal is to see the Hundertwasser Wairau Maori Art Centre come to fruition, PNT is supportive of all community initiatives that will create growth, prosperity and a better future for Whangarei.

The Prospect Northland Trust has been registered as a charitable trust under the Charitable Trusts Act 1957. This is the appropriate structure for the organisation. It provides a mechanism for the trust to act through a board of trustees. It is also the structure preferred by local authorities, government departments and funding organisations.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause. There is no question, successful, vibrant and positive thinking cities and towns have a distinctive 'point of difference'. This is our chance, this should be our 'point of difference'. For those who may have some strange adverse reaction to the fact that Hundertwasser was European, stop and take note that it is an integral and important part of the plan that it will house the Wairau Art Gallery, the only curated, contemporary national Maori art gallery in New Zealand with support from many influential and notable Maori persons. How appropriate for Whangarei as the city of Northland the region where so many Maori people call home that this city should contain such a gallery and Hundertwasser could and should be IT.
