Hunter's Recovery

This is our grandson Hunter. He is 13 years old. At the start of 2022 his family noticed something looked different about his back. Hunter has been diagnosed with Scoliosis which is a condition when a person’s spine curves. Hunter’s curve is an ‘S’ shape and the curve is sitting at 49 degrees. On top of that he also has a severe case of Pectus Excavatum. This bothers Hunter more than his back as his chest is significantly indented which makes him feel different from other young men his age.

The best medical team have been looking after him and he has now been referred to Starship. We are unsure what Hunter’s journey and recovery will look like to have surgery to repair his back and chest.

One amazing thing that has come out of this is Hunter’s discovery and love of guitar. He has been having lessons since July 2022 and has proven to be an awesome musician.

Along Hunter’s journey and recovery the guitar will play a huge part in helping him hold his body straight and helps keep his mind occupied. He has a basic electric guitar that he has been using. We would love to help him along the way.
