Hyderabad Community Cat Colony — I Need Your Help.

$30 of $5,000 goal
Given by 2 generous donors in 21 days

Support our ongoing work to care for and TNR our community cat colony and rehome their gorgeous kittens 🐈‍⬛

Napier, Hawke's Bay

Since Xmas 2022 I’ve been caring for a colony of community cats on Hyderabad Rd, Napier. 90% were abandoned or dumped, the rest were born here. I am the SPCA guardian for the colony & work alongside SPCA & local vets to run a TNR program to desex, health check, microchip & ear tip. The colony are an eco friendly pest management system for the greenbelt - feeding is regulated so they aren’t hungry enough to hunt native birds but retain a healthy prey drive to keep the mice, rat & stoat population under control. Every night I go out to feed and check on the colony, which I love doing. We reduced numbers from 43 to 14 by mid 2024 thru TNR-ing adults & rehoming kittens but unfortunately with many new cats being dumped in the area, numbers have exploded again this kitten season to 30+. Expenses include:

• Wet / dry food & milk powder

• Flea and worm treatments

• Vet health checks

• Materials for winter shelters

• Equipment for the ongoing TNR programme (carry cages etc)

To make things more challenging, I suddenly found myself out of work at the end of 2025 & the cost of feeding and caring for the colony has become extremely difficult to manage alone.

I’m asking for help from the community so I can continue feeding and caring for them. Any donation — big or small — will go directly toward food, medical care, and essential supplies. If you can’t donate, sharing this page or offering volunteer help would mean the world.

Thank you for helping give these cats a safer and healthier life. 🐾

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
