Some roses are Red, Violets aren't Blue, I need my boobies gone, Can you help too?
Hi, I’m Jacob, a trans man asking for help to raise money for gender affirming chest surgery, specifically a double mastectomy and chest masculinization.
In 2019 I started my medical transition with testosterone injections. This started some wonderful changes like my voice lowering & the beginnings of a glorious beard, it also inadvertently heightened my awareness that the body below my chin is one very much not me.
Public waitlists in New Zealand are very long & slow moving, & no insurance companies here cover any gender affirming surgeries - even getting the quotes & consultations needed is an expensive process.
I’ve spoken with men in the community who’ve already taken this step, & I’ve set two goals:
1) If we raise at least $30k I plan to get this surgery here in NZ, this is my preferred option
2) If we don’t raise this full amount but do raise at least $15k I should be able to go overseas for this surgery
If either of those goals are met the funds will go towards getting surgical quotes, the actual surgery, hospital stay, follow ups, flights (if needed) & help cover my time off work while I recover.
I did try to fund this surgery with a past Give A Little page (https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/jacobs-top-surgery) in 2022. I didn't get to my target then and the funds I did raise then have gone towards new chest binders and ongoing doctor visits & medication.
I really appreciate any help from kind donors who find this post - anything you can spare, is more than I had before.
If successful: to cover the quotes & consultations for my chest surgery as started above.
If I don't reach either goal: the money raised will go towards other items needed for my transition - chest binders, packers, doctors visits, prescriptions, etc
Thank you so much 🥰
