Jamie's No.1 priority right now is a kidney but he also needs help with medical and living costs. please help!
Wellington
Our beautiful friend/cousin/nephew/son Jamie has been diagonised with end stages of kidney failure. He has been moved to Wellington to be near the hospital and his son Marley is living in Riverton, at the bottom of the South Island with his Mum.
This page has been created to not only aid Jamie’s medical care and living costs but to ensure his son, Marley gets to spend as much time with his Dad as he can with the time he has left.
Jamie has been on daily dialysis since 2015 and is hospitalised regularly with peritonitis infections. He has very little energy for his day to day tasks and any support he can get would be well utilised and greatly appreciated.
What Jamie urgently needs is a kidney transplant. If you would consider being a kidney donor for Jamie then please get in touch with Cristina (Cristina.cleghorn@otago.ac.nz or 0221612652) to discuss how you can find out if you are a match for Jamie and see https://www.kidneys.co.nz/Kidney-DonationTransplants/Donation-and-Transplants/ for more information. Jamie is only 42 and with a new kidney he could live a long and happy life.
Jamie is my Cousin.
Jamie is in dire need of a kidney transplant. This is his last chance of survival.
I would like to set up a givealittle page so Jamie can forget about medical bills and the price of living. But more importantly to be able to spend time with his gorgeous son Marley.
To aid in Jamie's medical care and living costs associated with kidney failure. To also get his truck from Lawrence to a safe place with family and also any extra funds will go towards Jamie's son Marley for his future education and support.
UPDATE - SEPTEMBER 2018 10 September 2018
Hello Givealittlers
Here's a story to tell you how much your donations mean to our beleaguered boy, Jamie Alexander Dickens, who is celebrating his birthday last week, the seventh of September.
How Jamie and his Givealittle Scooter Saved the Day
Last month Jamie had an infection. His guardian angels were out of town so Mother Me dashed off to Wellington the very next day for nursing duties. Fortunately the infection was nipped in the bud by timely advice from the team at Margaret Stewart House.
This gave us time to look at what was realistically available for rent in Wellington. Not a lot. Meanwhile, my cobbled together accommodation required moving from one apartment to another, then to Ibis and back again to the apartment. Not used to travelling solo I dithered over one departure and couldn't crack the code to place the key in it's locked box.
Later that day I received an irate phone call from the apartment manager asking where the !@#%*^! key was. Jamie took charge, calmed the caller (you know the voice) and said he'd have it back in fifteen minutes. Which he did. On his Givealittle Scooter!
In his own words
'It's great to go somewhere and not be exhausted.'
*******************************************************************
The accommodation situation for Jamie is still uncertain but there is light at the end of the tunnel. In the meantime your Givealittle contributions are going towards his current living quarters (where the Beatles once stayed!)
For Marley's school holiday airfare to Wellington from the South Island and for health supplements including Bee Balm from CommonSense Organics.
A compatible kidney has not yet appeared, however, the Kidney Exchange Programme, Live Kidney Donation Aotearoa (0800 717 777) where donor kidneys are matched to recipients could be called into play. (Play doesn't sound quite the right word but the meaning behind the phrase is there.)
We are looking forward to having all The Dickens' Boys together in Wellingon in the school holidays.
Thank you very much for your kind donations.
Sincerely
Jan and Malcolm Dickens
