Life as you know it, can change in the blink of an eye… and for Amber, it did!

Life as you know it, can change in the blink of an eye… and for Amber, it did.
In January 2025, Amber celebrated her 40th birthday surrounded by her closest friends on the Gold Coast. Weeks later, she was diagnosed with Stage 2, high-grade, invasive triple negative Breast Cancer, one of the most aggressive forms of the disease. True to who she is, Amber faced this news with courage and optimism, beginning treatment and preparing for surgery, determined to beat this with everything she had.
Her husband, Shane took the year off work to support Amber and care for their two girls (5 & 9) adding mounting financial pressure to an already difficult situation.
Over the past eight months, she has fought with incredible strength. Six of those pushing through gruelling chemo and endless testing. Tragically, the night before her scheduled surgery in November, her scans revealed devastating news. At only 40 years old, our beautiful friend, devoted wife, and loving mother of two heard words no one ever wants to hear: “I’m sorry, Amber… it’s spread. Stage 4.”
The plan rapidly changed, surgery was cancelled, bringing with it new uncertainty, and an unimaginable emotional upheaval for her, her family and friends. Her next round of chemotherapy is not funded in New Zealand, and those costs, along with additional treatment, travel and medical costs, as well as the day-to-day family expenses are overwhelming.
One of Ambers best friends.
Your support will allow Amber to focus on her health, ease the burden of everyday expenses, go towards medical travel and treatments (Enhertu or DTXD). Other treatments will be determined by an overseas opinion at MD Anderson in Houston which is scheduled for mid January. We will post page updates along the way to confirm the treatments and to keep you all in the loop.
