Honoring our sister Tu'imala's memory by seeking the truth of WHAT HAPPENED TO HER IN VAVA'U, TONGA. This is the only OFFICIAL fundraiser.
Auckland
Our sister Tuimala Uinise Paluvava'u Pauline (nee Fulivai) Moala was tragically killed in Vava'u Island, Tonga in the early hours of Tuesday 8th November 2022 by an inferno house fire. She was with her husband during the ordeal however, he managed to escape unharmed whilst Tu'imala was left to perish.
The events unfolding in the lead-up to, and following, her death have been unsettling for her loved ones, as live videos recorded by locals were captured and shared online. In these videos, Tuimala's final moments before her death shed light, on the harrowing pain and suffering at the peak of her ordeal, until her devastating and eventual death. There are no words to describe the extreme trauma and pain this has prompted for all of Tu'imala's family, friends, and community to the general public who watched on in horror as her death unfolded in person and online. Our sister did not deserve to die this way, no one does. So her story is now a part of us, we will not rest until we can bring her truth and justice to the public through the legal system. She must have her justice. This is the very least we can do now, to honor her memory at this time.
We have lost our sister, an in-law, and a loving Aunty forever. Many, have lost a sister, cousin, niece, aunty, God mom, friend, teacher, a musician of life forever. We love you Mala si'i! Forever!
We do not have the funds to cover the expected LEGAL costs in NZ and in Tonga to achieve our goal.
My name is Hainoame Fulivai, I am Dibor Isamu Fulivai's wife, who is Tuimala's youngest brother.

Tuimala's case remains - unresolved *Tonga Police 4 April 2023
We enquired to the Tonga Police on the 25th of January - following their recent and ONLY public statement on Tuimala's case, sharing our disappointment and frustrations with their processes and statement. We specifically asked if the case was closed (that's what their statement implies) and the response from the Tonga Police contact person for the family advised the following statement;
"I can confirm that the investigation is still ongoing and we still waiting for fire investigation report from the reviewing phase and because investigation is still on going, we cannot release the report and evidence at this stage. I also want to mention that since the family’s lawyer step in and represent the family our contact point was shift to Tonga Police lawyer as we believe that it is more appropriate."
Since then, both Tonga Police and the NZ Consulates' office in Tonga have not responded or engaged with us further.
Ongoing inquiries from us were made in February and March and no responses have been received.
We would appreciate any help from the Tongan Authorities to get closure on Tuimala's case.
