An opportunity for Kali's family, friends, colleagues and network to give koha (donation) and show ahora (love) and awhi (care and support).

***Kali's goal has been reached. Any money raised in excess of her goal will be donated to the NZ Cancer Society, which supports people affected by cancer, including Kali (unless you state in your comment 'direct to Kali').***
After an abnormal smear in late 2022, Kali Kahn was diagnosed with cervical cancer, which was eventually determined to be stage 3. In March 2023, Kali underwent a radical hysterectomy and removal of the pelvic lymph nodes. Unfortunately, testing of the lymph nodes revealed the cancer had spread. Accordingly, in May, Kali began a five week course of weekly chemotherapy and daily radiotherapy in Auckland, a two hour drive from her home. Kali has been extremely courageous throughout the treatment. Fortunately, the treatment has gone smoothly, and her prognosis is good.
Due to the treatment, Kali has been off work sick since March on paid leave. It will be a while before she can return to full-time work and training. Despite generous financial and practical support from work, the Cancer Society, friends and family, Kali has incurred extra costs that add to the burden she is facing.
Many people have asked Kali how they can help. This is a tangible way to assist her. Messages of support and any contribution, no matter how small, will be gratefully received.
Please have your medical checks as advised (e.g. smears, mammograms) and report any abnormalities to your doctor. You know your body best.

A message of gratitude from Kali 23 June 2023
From Kali:
I want to say a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for your kindness and generosity.
Your response and comments exceeded what I imagined and brought me to tears.
The financial support provides me with a sense of relief and makes life a little bit easier for Max and me.
The love and sense of connection I've felt from everyone was overwhelming and truely lifted me up.
This week, I finished the chemoradiation, the last of any treatment at this stage. I am back at home in Whangārei, NZ with my son Max. It is so nice to be home. Last night at bedtime, Max told me he is happy I am home and that I do not have to go to Auckland anymore. Amazing.
Again, THANK YOU SO MUCH, words really can't express the depth of my gratitude and feeling of connection to you all. Love, Kali.
Thank you so much for your support.
