Kim is a very good friend of mine, she has amazing support from her sister and parents but this is a very stressful and scary time for them.
Porirua, Wellington
Kim suffered from collapsed discs in her spine causing compression on the nerves 2 days before Christmas which resulted in her needing emergency surgery on Christmas Day, followed by another emergency surgery 3 days later for a suspected blood clot in her spine. She has lost all feeling from the waist down and will require extensive rehabilitation and there is currently no prognosis. Kim has been in Wellington Hospital since and is awaiting a bed at Burwood Hospital in Christchurch. Kim is a single Mum of three beautiful children aged 16, 8 and 7 who are all very worried and are missing their Mum.
Any donation no matter how big or small will help to ease the financial burden and worry about how they can pay for the unexpected expenses involved with Kim being away from home, so they can focus on helping Kim with the long hard recovery she has ahead of her.
Kim and I have been friends for more than 25 years.
Donated funds will be used to assist with costs associated with supporting Kim and her family, such as petrol and parking costs. Also flights and accomodation costs so her children can travel to Christchurch to visit their Mum while she recovers.
Kim is now home 🏡 4 April 2023
Great news, Kim arrived home last Wednesday!!
So pleased to tell you all that she has her mobility back and is walking with only the aid of one crutch.
This was only possible due to her motivation and hard work and the amazing support of the wonderful team at Burwood Hospital.
This will be the last update before we close the page on Saturday, so just want to thank everyone for the kind wishes and generous donations which were so appreciated. Kim’s children were able to travel to Christchurch and spend time with their Mum and help her with her recovery on two occasions thanks to your generosity.
There is still a long road ahead for Kims recovery but she is positive and just so grateful to have her mobility back and be home with her loved ones ❤️
Thanks again, your support really did help 😊
