Show your support for Hayden by empowering a Kiwi to leave a significant mark on the global Martial Arts stage!

Wellington

In August 2023, I had an opportunity to participate in a Hapkido Martial Arts Tournament held in Wellington. This event drew participants from various martial arts schools worldwide, including those from Korea, Australia, and the United States.

I entered into four distinct categories:

1. Jeontu (Full Contact Combat)

2. Self-defense Routine (Demonstrating my own self-defense)

3. Hyung (Showcasing traditional Hapkido patterns)

4. Jumping Sidekick (Displaying agility and precision)

Remarkably, I managed to secure gold medals in all four categories and clinched the Oceania Cup, a prestigious title that was in Korea for five years. The excitement from my family and the Upper Hutt Hapkido Academy was overwhelming.

This Martial Arts extravaganza unfolded over two intense days, leaving my family in awe as they witnessed their first-ever martial arts tournament. It served as a testament to the discipline and knowledge passed on by my teachers. It has been 20 years since my last tournament, making this experience all the more memorable as it reignited the flame.

I was invited by the WORLD KIDO FEDERATION to compete in a World Tournament from 22nd-24th June in Korea! This special opportunity not only allows me to express my skills and passion but also to represent and showcase my beloved nation on the international stage.

I am committed to giving it my absolute best, not only for myself but as a representative of Upper Hutt Martial Arts Academy, New Zealand Aotearoa, and our cherished Mana.

Use of funds

The WORLD KIDO FEDERATION has outlined an 8-day agenda. All contributions will be directed towards covering expenses such as return flights to Korea, accommodation, transportation, meals, and registration fees.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
