Made redundant and turning fully to indie radio - backing the station helps keep local voices broadcasting.
Auckland
While I was on approved leave with my family, I received news I never expected on New Years Day 2026 - my day job of two years was being reduced by 70%, with the possibility of being phased out entirely. It landed suddenly, during a public holiday, and created real uncertainty for my family.
At the same time, our indie radio station (www.kiwiradio.nz) has continued to do what it’s always done: support local artists, give independent voices a platform, and keep community-driven radio alive.
This moment has forced a shift. With my regular income gone, I’m now leaning fully into the station - not just as a passion project, but as something worth protecting and growing. Your support will help cover immediate financial pressure while allowing the station to stay on air and keep serving the community.
If you’re able to donate, share, or connect me with opportunities, it would mean more than I can say. Thank you for backing independent radio when it matters most.
Bridging the income gap after job loss.
Giving time and stability to grow the station.
Protecting an independent community platform.
