Support Leigh & family through his Myeloidysplastic syndrome & Bone Marrow Transplant, so they can create family memories & pay expenses.
Papamoa Beach, Papamoa
Leigh was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic Syndrome in June 2021 after feeling increasingly fatigued.
Within a month we were told that Leigh has a fast-paced aggressive form of this blood cancer. Leigh is currently going through Chemo however it is not a cure. For any chance at survival he now needs a bone marrow transplant.
We already know that life will never be the same.
His wife Tracy also has multiple health issues making things a little more complicated.
Leigh is unable to work. Tracy has taken time out of her business to care for Leigh and the household. We are currently supported by WINZ. This income pays the basic bills and nothing else.
Our eldest daughter Julia, currently lives in Auckland and visiting has been difficult, especially with lockdown.
Both daughters Julia and Gemma are fantastic, supportive and involved.
We'd like to create some special family memories before transplant no matter what the outcome is. We'd also like to cover some of the expenses we see coming up that we have no way of paying.
Thirdly the outlook for the future is to finish Tracy's training to become a fully qualified editor in order to bring in an income to support the family and costs associated with this.
We continue to have hope and faith always for the future, and treasure each day together.
I'm his wife
1. We have some memory making trips we would like to do as a family before transplant ie sailing/holiday/family photos,
2. Traveling to Auckland frequently, car needs
3. Costs that WINZ doesn't cover
4. Training
Thank you 2 May 2022
Yesterday marked one month since Leigh graduated to glory.
Gemma, Julia and I feel like we have only recently started to really grieve.
Each day has its moments.
What I do want to do is take a moment to thank each person who has been involved in our journey:
To those of you who came to the funeral, thank you! Each of you being there made it so special. I'm sorry if I didn't get to see you all I was so inundated by people and the day was so surreal.
Thank you to those who watched online.
To those who were a part of the funeral, - you are each incredible!
To those who have sent/sending messages, phone calls, gift cards, flowers, food, cards, visited, thank you. We have felt so loved.
-For those of you who helped with meals - thank you so much - when we couldn't cook for ourselves/just did not care about food,- it was already there.
I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you. We are so greatful. You have helped make a difference in our lives.
May God bless you all abundantly!
