Help us help the Lemeki family. The family of 10 lost everything in a house fire Thursday the 4th of May.

The Lemeki family lived in a housing NZ house and with only one income weren't able to have house insurance so have lost everything and wont have an insurance payout to restart replacing what they lost.

We at the Birkdale Beach Haven Community Project have been collecting second hand good for the family and have been inundated with donations of items. However there are other costs that we cant collect items to help with (and some items that are best not second hand ... like underwear). So we have set this up as a place we can direct people who contact us to donate money have somewhere to donate.

We were contacted soon after the fire to become a drop off spot for donations from there we have been collating and sorting through donations. We have met the family on several occasions and have been working with them to get what they need for their family.

About us

The Birkdale Beach Haven Community Project House operates from two key sites, one on Birkdale Road and the other on Beach Haven Road. Both houses facilitate a series of community initiatives, spaces as well the Community Eats programme.
