Canterbury
Let’s help make things a little easier for Kylie and Karl as they continue to fight cancer to prolong her life........
They have been fighting for the last 7 years and this year has been the toughest by far. Kylie is an incredible wife, and amazing mother to 3 beautiful girls.
After diagnosis in 2012, she had a year of chemotherapy, radiation, hormone treatment, and a full mastectomy to her right breast. She was then clear of active cancer cells. But 7 months later, she received devastating news, and was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. Scans showed tumours in her left breast, bones, and brain. There is no cure for this. It is terminal.
After further rounds of chemotherapy, radiation to the brain and hormone treatments, she commenced a new drug just internationally released with outstanding results. For 3 years, and at a cost of more than $126,000.00, she was treated with Pertuzumab (purjeta) a non funded drug. This eliminated active tumours in her body and contained the tumour in her brain from progressing. However, in early 2018 the brain tumour became active once more, and spread.
The current recommended drug is lapatonib (Tykerb). This again is non-funded, and at a cost of $1,000 per week has made things extremely tough for the family since April 2018. This drug is Kylies’ life line, and is prolonging her life. Kylies parents have been amazing and are contributing significantly, but we want to help relieve some of this immense pressure for this very beautiful and special family.
Kylie is stronger than strong. Her husband, my brother Karl, is an absolute trooper and does everything for his family. Their 3 beautiful girls aged 8, 10, and 12 yrs, keep them focused on fighting this battle and enjoying daily life.
"Kylie had a previous page on Givealittle which raised $62,540.00 - https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/kyliecameron77. These funds were used to help fund the perjeta drug that Kylie was treated with for 3 years.
This current page will go towards the cost of the new non funded drug - Tykerb as detailed above.
Please help us continue to keep this family fighting cancer for as long as possible.
Many family and friends of this beautiful family want to help relieve some pressure. xxx.
Funds will be used to fund the Tykerb drug at a cost of $1,000 per week plus associated costs. If things don't go to plan or their situation changes - the funds will be used to help support Karl and the 3 girls.
