Support Lexi Meyer’s Intercultural Exchange with AFS Costa Rica 2025
Lexi is a dedicated student at Whangamatā Area School with a passion for languages, sports, and cultural exchange. Fluent in Spanish, Lexi hopes to join the AFS intercultural exchange program to Costa Rica for the academic year of 2025. This exciting opportunity will allow her to continue developing her language skills and immerse herself in a vibrant and different culture.
Why Costa Rica?
Costa Rica is a Spanish speaking country with a southern hemisphere academic year. It's renowned for its stunning landscapes, rich biodiversity, and welcoming culture. For Lexi, this experience is more than just an academic venture; it’s a chance to broaden her horizons, make lifelong connections, and gain a deeper understanding of global communities.
Passions & Goals
Lexi is an enthusiastic Spanish speaker and she is passionate about surf life saving, dance, and netball. She hopes to continue pursuing these interests while studying in Central America. By participating in this exchange program, Lexi aims to blend her academic goals with her love for sports, enriching her life both inside and outside the classroom.

Funds raised will be remitted to Lexi's parents to be applied to the AFS fees.
Use of funds
All money raised will be used to fund the costs associated with the exchange program including visa applications, travel, insurance, pre-departure and post-arrival orientation camps and other living expenses associated with a year away from home.

Hey everybody!
Just coming out here to say I applied for a scholarship at the end of August, and have received notice that I have been awarded $6,000!! I also contacted the Whangamata Lions Club and they have agreed to gift me $2000 towards my goal. I am so incredibly grateful!
