Frank, a trans man and refugee in Kakuma Refugee Camp, needs donations to buy food and necessities for himself and his friends
Auckland
Hi, my name is Dawen and I am fundraising on behalf of my friend Frank, who is a trans man currently living in Kakuma Refugee Camp.
Kakuma Refugee Camp is located in Kenya and since the cuts to USAID, aid has become much harder to access. It's not just USAID. Other organisations like UNHCR are also having to shut down it's operations, with case workers being laid off and offices being shut down, making it difficult for refugees to request aid. This affects all refugees, but affects LGBTQIA+ refugees even more as aid is already difficult for them to access, as aid organisations like UNHCR tend to follow the social and political norms of the countries they operate in, even if it means refusing or being reluctant to help vulnerable groups like LGBTQIA+ refugees.
Not only that, LGBTQIA+ refugees like Frank are at a constant threat of violence. Just last week, a mob of homophobic people charged into Kakuma and attacked the camp's LGBTQIA+ refugees. Many have been left bleeding and injured by this brazen and bigoted attack, with some believed to be dead.
Many of those refugees are trying to escape to a safer country like Canada, but many are still stuck in Kakuma. For refugees like Frank still in Kakuma, they need donations to be able to buy food, as donations are currently the best way to survive there.
If you have any money to spare, please donate! Any donations will be greatly appreciated! If you are unable to donate, please share this fundraiser! Any support will be appreciated
The beneficiary is a trans man named Namubiru "Frank" Siama who is currently living in Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya and needs donations to buy food and necessities.
Donations will be sent to Frank's friend, Moses Okello, another refugee at the camp since Frank doesn't have his own bank account.
The money raised will be given to the beneficiary (Frank), who will use the money to support himself and the friends he is living with. The money will be used to get food and necessities (medicine and toiletries)
Thank you so much!!!! I appreciate it
