Just an ordinary young Mum of two, trying to navigate life and health after Cancer but needing specialist support.
Christchurch, Canterbury
For years, I endured debilitating, heavy periods, dismissed frequently by the public health system. This chronic battle led to severe fatigue, pain, infections, and other issues. Tragically, my condition escalated into multiple life-threatening hemorrhages. The final episode required resuscitation and massive blood transfusions before an emergency hysterectomy and bilateral salpingectomy saved my life.
A few weeks post-surgery, I learned the cause: Endometrial Stromal Sarcoma (LGESS), a rare uterine cancer affecting 1–2 per million annually, typically in older women. At just 28, I am now unfortunately facing early surgical menopause driven by the hysterectomy, leading to severe fatigue, hot flushes, brain fog, and insomnia, among other symptoms. Additionally I suspect a new bladder prolapse (on top of already having a rectocele), alongside having chronic abdominal/pelvic pain, early thyroid issues, and significant PTSD, severely impacting my ability to live and to parent my two young children, who also have disabilities.
I haven't had the best healthcare experience publicly. I need specialized private care that is actively supportive for my complex needs. A gynecological endocrinologist and physiotherapy for the prolapses. We are on a single income (+WFF), and can't cover these costs alone.
I need support. I need specialized care. I want to be healthy, without symptoms, and a carefree, active, and present Mum. Please help me and my family if you can. I'd so appreciate it ❤️
All funds raised will go towards private gynaecological endocrinologist care (consultations, appointments, tests, and treatments), private care for the prolapse (physiotherapy and treatment), and travel. Any excess funds will go towards helping my children build positive family memories (incl. flights/travel, accommodation, tickets for outings and experiences)
Getting there! 8 November 2025
Hi everyone,
I’m doing well, just pottering along and taking things slowly. My energy is up and down, so I’ve been pacing myself with small jobs at home. I even did half the lawns the other day and was wiped out for two days! Gardening helps me feel accomplished, even if it’s just one task a day 🌱.
Thanks to your generosity, I’ve raised enough to see a gynecological endocrinologist. I’ll start the referral soon, though the waitlist is five months. I haven’t raised enough for physiotherapy yet, but we’ll get there. Public options haven’t worked for me, so private care is necessary due to my complex needs.
I also want to clarify: when I say “single student allowance,” I mean Peter is the only income. I’m not working due to illnesses and PTSD, and our full entitlements from WINZ cover bills and disability needs for our children.
For physiotherapy, the hospital knows about my rectocele prolapse, and I’m working on losing weight gained while sick. They don’t yet know about the bladder/vaginal vault prolapse I suspect, as I’m overdue for my check-up and waiting for an appointment. This isn’t about choosing private care, though - it’s because I’ve been failed by the public system in the past for my prolapses and need proper support now.
None of this is due to a “bad birth”; it’s from my endometrial stromal sarcoma. ACC support may be possible in the future. I’m also pursuing a serious complaint about hospital failings.
Thank you for your support 💖. It means the world.
