Kerrin Fight-Lisa’s Marathon mission
I have never been a runner as such, but I started small when my son was 5 and my daughter was 2 years old. Brooklyn is now 7 and Riley will be 10 in May.
I tell people that I’m not really a runner but they correct me...so I guess I am!
I slowly built the km’s up and thought I would work on small goals. From a 10km race, to completing my second half marathon last year, I decided that I would love to complete a full marathon but the thought of running 42km was very scary and daunting! I had been on the fence about completing a Marathon but when I heard of a friend who needed money, and fast, I thought why not run for her!
I’m sharing my marathon journey as I’m going to complete the Hawkes Bay marathon on the 18th of May and I’ll be running for Kerrin.
Kerrin is 43, a registered Nurse, wife to Jason and mum to 4 beautiful children. I first met Kerrin at a coffee group with Riley. She was already a mum of 2 at that stage and she was so helpful to me as a first time mum. Riley and Elise have been going to the same school since they were 5.
Kerrin was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 years ago. She’s fought with courage and determination, opting for drastic treatment to beat the cancer.
Her specialists were positive that she would beat the nasty illness-until a few months ago which has changed her precious life forever. Kerrin now has stage 4 terminal metastatic breast cancer. She has multiple large tumours in her liver, another in her chest cavity and small scattered tumours in both lungs. The best chance of prolonging her life is a drug called Ibrance, which is not funded in NZ. The cost is $6000 per month and it’s her only option to shrink the tumours and extend the time she has to spend with her family.
So, I’m asking for your support! I’m asking you to donate that one cup of coffee to Kerrin and to help get me across that finish line! Please share this and feel free to share my updates.
Please note that another page has been set up for Kerrin here- https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/kerrins-fight-stage-4-metatstaic-breast-cancer
I have known Kerrin for 10 years now and I am running a marathon to help her raise funds for her cancer treatment, she is a very deserving person
Money will be spent on Kerrins treatment, this drug it not funded in NZ and costs her $6000 per month.
