Fundraising for the 'Flashlight Fund' to ensure that personal financial circumstances, are not a barrier to those seeking counselling.
Nationwide
Skylight is fundraising for the 'Flashlight Fund'. This fund was started by Jeni Bryant, a Skylight client who made a significant donation to ensure that financial circumstances were not a barrier to those seeking counselling.
The impact of Covid-19 on the lives of tamariki, rangatahi and their whānau, continues to be significant. Skylight has experienced a higher demand than usual for support for tamariki who are trying to navigate parental separations and falling behind in their studies. Common issues are anxiety, depression, refusal to go to school and separation anxiety from a parent. Parents report they are seeing high levels of anxiety regarding upcoming exams and are feeling powerless to support rangatahi.
Skylight has experienced an unprecedented demand for counselling in the past year. The Flashlight Fund will ensure we can offer subsidised or free counselling to those who might otherwise not be able to afford support.
