Support for Luka
Canterbury
For the last 12 months Luka has been dealing with some issues that we first thought were due to him being on prednisone but after stopping and being off this for many months they have worsened .
The Vet seem to think Luka may have either A typical Addison’s or Cushing’s disease but because he has an auto immune disease , tests are making it hard to establish this .Hence having to repeat them .
A Dex test showed border line for Addison’s and blood was sent to the USA to check for hypothyroidism which was negative .
At the moment we’re going to be repeating the ATCH stim and the dex test and then luka may have to be sent to VSA for internal specialists .
At the moment he lives with nausea on meds
Fatigue and unusual hair growth .
I have started this fundraiser because his follower community on Facebook of 112,000 followers would like to contribute to the ongoing future Costs which are stripping me fast .
This will help immensely with further tests and treatment once a diagnosis has been found .
Luka already has quite substantial costs with joint medications he’s on and previous medical issues this other issue is now making it difficult to continue ,over the last year I have been selling items in my house to just get this far .
Vet care
Online medications

Ending 27 November 2025
The fundraiser will be closing in a couple of days, and I want to say a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who has helped over the past few months. I also want to apologise that the path the specialist pursued didn’t seem to give us any real answers.
Luka has recently been having episodes almost daily, with one lasting eight hours and affecting his breathing badly enough that we had to go to after-hours care the next day. He seems to get himself into a state, and after speaking with some overseas vets, it’s looking more likely that there may be an issue with his throat — possibly laryngeal paralysis.
I’ve been given some guidance on how his throat could be checked without an endoscope by a primary vet, but we’re still struggling to find one willing to do that. For now, we’re taking things day by day. Some days are good, some not so good, and the episodes seem to happen out of nowhere. He also continues to have a constant hard swallow.
As you can see from the invoices, the fundraiser funds were used quickly, and we’re now left with limited options.
Thank you again for all your support. We truly don’t know what the future holds for Luka, but your help has meant more than you know.
