Marites' Fight Against Breast Cancer

A mother of 3 small children recently diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer urgently needs our assistance.

Canterbury

Our sister Marites has just found out that she has stage 4 Breast cancer (Inflammatory Skin Breast Cancer) it means the cancer has spread to tissues near the breast, such as the skin or chest wall, including the ribs and muscles in the chest. Marites' cancer has metastasized to her left arm and to her bones. Surgery is an option right now, alternatively we are looking at a diet called Ketogenic. The ketogenic diet is a high-fat, adequate-protein, low-carbohydrate diet, studies says that it can stop cancer cells from multiplying. My sister's cancer is aggresive so we have to act fast, sadly, however financial is more than a big challenge as for most people in the Philippines emergency medical funds are non-existent.

She has undergone her first round of chemotheraphy (5 more to go) on August 01, 2016 and she will have it every 3 weeks. Initially doctors prescribed her an injection that is worth 87,000 pesos each (NZD2,500). It was impossible for Marites to come up with that amount let alone 6 times of it, so she opted for a cheaper "less" effective injection. We want the best for her but their is little we can do for now without your help. Her cancer is very aggressive and the cancer has moved to her bones. It goes without saying, this is a very hard and trying time for our family especially because she has 3 small children, ages 5, 4, and 2. Her partner doesn't have a regular job, food is scarce for the family of five.

Marites has so much courage in her, she wants to be alive and live well for her 3 small children, without their mother these kids will be broken as a family and will live with my other sisters, we don't want that to happen. We want Marites to survive and continue on raising her 3 small adorable children.

Marites and her family live in the Philippines where any medical assistance is almost non-existent. We are doing everything we can to help her and her family through this time of grave difficulty. I have been sending money to her and will continue to give her support but I cannot do it alone we need any help. Thats's why I have set up this Givealittle page. To ask for your help. Please let's give her a chance to care for her kids for more years to come.

We are all saddened and shocked by this diagnosis but instead of feeling helpless we need to step up around Marites to give her the best possible chance of fighting this terrible disease that is cancer.

Any amount is welcomed, whether you can give $5 or $5000 please know that its going to a dear sister/parent and an amazing person that has so much to live for, you are also helping the children have a mother and a better life.

Marites, her partner and 3 children thank you in advance for your support.

Marites finished with her chemotheraphy.  19 December 2016

Hi kind donors,

I am glad to announced that Marites has completed her chemotheraphy sessions that lasted for 5 months. All your help and generous donations made it possible.

She had her evaluation by the oncologist (the result was disheartening) without saying further Marites needs to go through a 35 day radiation and then a double masectomy.

Even with the saddening result we are still hopeful she will pull through and have some few more years added to her to spend with her small children. She just hopes to get rid of the pain. She feels an excruciating pain every single day and it's awful to watch her go through it. The doctor said the radiation will take away the pain. She is very frail and weak at the moment. We give her lots of nutritious food and vitamins.

Again thank you all so much for all your help. It could have been worst without your lending hand. Whatever happens we know that a lot of people like you are here for us. Here's to hoping for the best.

With much love and appreciation,

Jay, Marites and family
