Michelle Burling is going bald for breast Cancer.
Bay of Plenty
Michelle Burling has beautiful hair right down to her butt, but she is willing to get it all cut off to raise money for Breast Cancer Support Service Tauranga Trust. And if donations reach $1000 she will go bald!! That's right, from long flowing tresses to nothing!
She's doing this to launch 2017 Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
I am doing this because I want to turn my hair into money to help support a great organisation that does so much in our community.
I am really aware that although most people will recover from breast cancer there are many who do not. The breast cancer goes to other parts of their body and for them their is no cure.
I don't know who I am going to be without my hair, but I am ready to find out. And lets face it having my hair shaved off is my choice. It's not like that for those with beast cancer who have chemo- they lose their hair whether they like it or not.
Providing emotional and practical support to people in the Western Bay of Plenty living with breast cancer.
All money raised will be used to provide support to the approximately 250 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the Western Bay of Plenty each year. This included emotional support, support buddies, dinner delivery, massage, counselling, group and partner support, education sessions, meditation retreats, library, mastectomy cushions, drainage bags and they even do the morning and afternoon teas at the chemo ward.
