Help support Michelle to fight terminal cancer and give her the best chance.
Wellington
At the end of 2018, Michelle found a lump in her breast. She was misdiagnosed multiple times and after all the hurt she was then told that in fact it was cancer and it was terminal. The diagnosis is now that she has two types of cancer. Stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer and invasive ductal carcinoma. It has also spread to lungs and lymph nodes and she has been given months to live.
After much investigation, Michelle found a clinic in Thailand willing to help her.
The clinic is Verita Life if you follow this link you can see it - www.veritalife.com
Her husband Chris has been by her side but has had to return to work. Her sisters Anita and Rachel have flown to Thailand to help support her. This all comes at a huge financial cost.
Michelle is now in week 3 of her treatment in Thailand and she is having great results with the tumour shrinking, most of the pain gone, and regaining a better quality of life than she had if she had just stayed in New Zealand. The longer we can keep her in Thailand receiving treatment the better chances she has to fight this.
Michelle is very special to us all. She is one of 7 children and the family have already suffered much loss in the past.
Michelle appreciates all your support as we do as a family too.
Michelle Dykstra is my sister and I want to raise funds for her medical and personal expenses as she has terminal inflammatory breast cancer as she is using alternative treatment overseas as the last chance to help her.
The money will be spent to help support Michelle with her treatment overseas (Travel and associated costs).
Back in Thailand continuing treatment 30 April 2019
Hello everyone, we would like to thank you for your continued support.
Unfortunately, about a week after Michelle arrived back home in New Zealand, she started seeing signs of the cancer growing again. Her cancer is incredibly aggressive, so Michelle decided to come back to Verita life clinic in Thailand for 3 more weeks to continue some of the treatments and to try a new one that is aimed to help her inflammatory breast cancer.
Although the results are still uncertain, we remain hopeful and optimistic that Michelle can fight this.
As you can imagine the cost of coming back to Thailand and the new treatments are coming at a huge financial burden for Michelle and Chris so we will continue fundraising to help support them.
Thank you for the kind messages and donations that we have received thus far.
