Morrinsville Cat Rescue needs your help

Morrinsville, Waikato

Approximately 100 kittens are cared for, vaccinated, micro chipped, wormed and desexed annually by the MCR Trust before being adopted to their forever homes. This sounds straight forward but have you ever thought how much work goes into getting these kittens to the stage of being rehome able? The kittens come in stages, some only a few weeks old and needing to be bottle feed. Others are sick and needing treatment and have to be isolated from other kittens already there, and the really feral ones take time to become trusting of humans. Sometimes there are cages on top of cages in Karla’s lounge to accommodate them. The bedrooms are used to store cages, cat food, litter, towels etc. You could say this venture has taken over their house. Karla has set up their backyard and patio as a safe haven for these kittens, they even have their own bedroom off the area with a heater for chilly nights. BUT the demand for this service is so great MCR Trust need to expand the facility by fitting out the garage with areas to accommodate the different stages. This is a big project for an organisation run by volunteers.

About us

Morrinsville Cat Rescue take in feral kittens found in the community. Kittens are socialized, wormed, vaccinated, microchipped and desexed and adopted out. Adults are caught to stop the breeding cycle.

Facility additions  15 June 2023

Our Givealittle Page will be closing at the end of this month. A huge thankyou to those that contributed. We have purchased a few cages so the kittens have more space to play when they first arrive and we can keep them separate from the others. We will also be purchasing some heat mats, bedding and toys to keep them snuggly and happy. Thank you from lots of tiny paws.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
