Support me in reaching my swimming dreams!

Porirua, Wellington

Kia ora, I'm Nathaniel, a 15-year-old para-swimmer from Porirua. I have been selected to represent New Zealand at the Tri-Series Swimming Competition in Australia in July 2025 and I need your support to compete there.

Why I am para-athlete: I was born with a unique chromosomal deletion, severe lordosis, and Klumpsy’s Palsy. I had a rough start to life: a snapped femur during birth, time spent in NICU, followed by the discovery of my chromosomal deletion. The deletion resulted in me having lots of uncomfortable invasive medical procedures to find out how best to support me grow and develop. Nowadays my vast number of specialists has mostly been whittled down to regular ongoing medical check-ups, physiotherapy and orthopaedic specialist appointments.

Year-on-year I have improved my swimming ability, consistently achieving Personal Bests (PBs) at swimming competitions with the support and guidance of Porirua City Aquatics and my dedicated coaches.

In 2023 I achieved my para classification with Swimming New Zealand. My classification is S10/SB9/SM10.

Significant achievements:

• 2023 NZ Secondary Schools Champs:

o bronze medal.

• 2023 Wellington Regional Long Course Champs:

o 7 gold medals.

• 2024 NZ Short Course Champs:

o PBs in all events.

• 2024 Wellington Regional Long Course Champs:

o 5 gold and 2 silver medals.

• 2025 National Age Group Champs:

o 4 golds, 2 silvers and 2 bronze medals.

Your valuable support for me attending Tri-Series would be greatly appreciated!
