Help the Nelson Intermediate aquabots get to Tauranga!
Nelson
The amazing Nelson Intermediate School aquabots students have made it to the next round of the national competition in Tauranga! Only thing is its in two weeks and so flights are expensive - all help is much appreciated.
Background.
Since February 2022 26 students have been preparing for the 2022 NZAquaBots Challenge. This competition consists of 4 underwater competitions and a team presentation. The challenges are a test of how well the students design, build, and operate their NZAquaBots. The team presentation is a test of organisational and documentation capabilities which allows the students to showcase their design and demonstrate how well they can convey their engineering ideas and market their NZAquaBot.
Recently the Nelson Regional Aquabot Competiton was held to determine who would qualify to compete at the National New Zealand Aquabot Competiton, held December 4th this year. The following students have qualified to represent Nelson at this National event in Tauranga.
Jett Williams
Douglas Miller
Finn Harrington
Ben Jordan-Eastlake
Luke Beuker
Tyler Mitchell
Tom Schaper
Elouise South
Jack Mains
Sam Ibbotson
This inter-school national competition will be held in Tauranga. These students will be required to study and draw on knowledge from articles related to aquaculture and biosecurity. Students across the country will compete to determine who is the top Aquabot team in Aotearoa and therefore qualify for the International competition in the United States of America early 2023.
