New Grandfather suffers Stroke in distant hospital

Tomas “Tom” Pizarro loving dad to son Von and Reena(wife) came to New Zealand with his wife to finally see their first grandson & give guidance to the new parents.

Von & Reena are living a simple life to fulfill their dreams together for their family. They're fortunate to have their parents for 6 mos. as they transition back to work and new life with Skye. All is well until an unfortunate event happened to Tom on the 9Dec.

He was admitted at Christchurch DHB & was diagnosed with Right Middle Cerebral Infarct or known as “stroke.” The doctors tried their best to give Tom the best possible outcome with no success. His condition started to decline and to honour their father’s request, a very painful decision was made not to undergo further surgery and to give him comfort management.

With Tom under Visitor Visa, he was not granted any insurance cover for this medical event, and the family is now facing ongoing bills. The family is trying all means to cover the costs, even considered going back to the Philippines, but doctors didn't recommend this. This leads to accruing hospital bills resulting in enormous financial difficulty on top of the stress of seeing their loved one being critically ill.

The fast turn of events from a supposedly beautiful reunion took a dark turn on this medical event. We are knocking into your hearts to share prayers and financial assistance in this very difficult journey that they are facing. Any support during this trying time is greatly appreciated.
