Help Us To Continue Serving the Japanese Community in Auckland!
Auckland
It's been almost five years since we at the Japan Kauri Education Trust (JKET), started its operation in the current location in Glenfield, Auckland. We operate a Japanese Children's Library and Japanese Heritage Centre (Japanese language education classes) in community, serving 200+ Japanese/Japanese descendant families as well as 4 Japanese playgroups which involve more than 200 families living in greater Auckland area. In recent years, we started our new role as a 'social security blanket' for our Japanese community. With this new role we aim to help those who are struggling with domestic problems and connect them to local social services.
On the 4th June, we were ordered to vacate our current premises in 20 days. The landlord decided to cease their business in Glenfield location due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Your generous donation will go towards the moving cost, the rent for the new location, and other necessary operation costs.
$30,000 is the minimum amount to rent a commercial property big enough to hold two classrooms and a library with 10,000+ books. Even if we rent spaces at a local community house, it will cost us approximately $8000 per school term.
At this moment, it is not determined where we could move into - we are still searching the best places that will match our needs and activity criteria.
Updates will be posted here and shared on our Facebook page : www.facebook.com/inchJ
JKET is not just another library or Japanese language school for our students and patrons. WE ARE ANOTHER HOME. Please let us keep their home alive so that we can always be there to support them as they grow up and lead their life here in Auckland.
We truly appreciate for your kind support!

Thank you for your support in 2021! 22 December 2021
Dear JKET supporters,
2021 was the year of a new start for Japan Kauri Education Trust. In January, we resumed our Japanese Children’s Library services, Japanese Heritage Centre of Auckland. Since then, we have hosted various workshops in the new ‘home’; all these wouldn’t have been possible without warm support from so many community members and organisations. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for the continued understanding and support you’ve given to JKET amidst the COVID-19 pandemic despite the difficulty and uncertainty caused by prolonged lockdown and numerous challenges in many aspects of our life.
Our society is still dealing with the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and will be volatile due to public safety regulations. While it is for sure a challenging time for JKET, it is also a critical time for us to repeatedly ponder the meaning of our services to the community and refresh our minds to work towards our goal.
To materialise the multi-cultural society with full potential, we will keep working hard to meet the needs of the Japanese community by offering the opportunities to deepen the understanding of the cultural differences between New Zealand and Japan while establishing great relationships with regional organisations.
Thank you so much for your continuous support and understanding of JKET.
May this holiday season be filled with joy and peace.
