Give a little for Nina and her family during her recovery
Bay of Plenty
Our beautiful Nina was in a terrible car accident on Sunday February 12th in the lower Kaimai’s. She was transferred to Waikato hospital where she was diagnosed with a severe brain injury and required 4 hours of surgery to remove a bleed on her brain. The surgery went well and she was placed in an induced coma to assist her recovery.
On Wednesday 15th, she had surgery to repair her pelvis that was fractured in 4 places. This operation also went well, with no complications.
She is still in a coma, as we “wait for nature to do it’s thing”, as the ICU Dr said…along with the amazing support of the medical team in the Waikato Critical Care Unit.
She is taking baby steps forward, and all in the right direction. We are keeping positive and asking friends and whanau to hold her in their thoughts and prayers.
Many have asked already, how they can help and support, and this site is a way to allow individuals to contribute and support, when and if they can.
So grateful for all the blessings, love and light encircling our beautiful Nina.
Much love Catherine, Maria and Tom x

The message below is from Nina's Mum Catherine
"Nina is still in Waikato Hospital, but now on the ward. We are grateful that she is no longer in a coma, her trachea tube has been removed and she is breathing completely on her own!
She is at a stage they call "emerging consciousness", where she 'responds to commands' some of the time, and is moving her body (at times controlled and purposeful). She is still non-verbal and completely dependent on 24 hour care.
Our family is full of gratitude for the ongoing love and support from you all, for our beautiful Nina.
Arohanui, Catherine."
