A gorgeous wee boy who didn’t get a chance to reach his potential, living out his days getting cuddles and returning smooches, yes he was super smoochy and would waste your day demanding pick up and cuddles.
Riley was found injured in a shed in East Belt and taken to Vetlife for preliminary treatment before being handed to Cat Care with medications and pain relief . His leg had become hooked through a non breakable leather collar with disastrous results, it cut deep into the armpit damaging muscle and causing blood loss, this has happened over several days not 24 hours. In consultation with the vet Tuesday morning a decision was made to proceed with surgery to repair and close the open wound, while it was initially a success, by afternoon there was bleeding necessitating in a 2nd surgery, bleeding was located but so was a blood clot. Riley’s status become very fragile and he passed away overnight Tuesday (28th Oct). R.I.P
The suffering of this animal through peoples ignorance is inexcusable and totally unnecessary.
The cost of a microchip is equivalent to a new collar and a couple of toys and the cat wouldn’t have needed a collar at all. If you value your cat PLEASE MICROCHIP
Because of this, we have incurred a MASSIVE vet bill for helping him and we need your help to cover that bill!
Did you know that each year in North Canterbury, many cats and kittens are abandoned without our knowledge and that so many are having babies in the wild with no help? At Cat Care Incorporated, we are trying to do our bit by relieving the suffering and distress amongst felines, including the provision of food, shelter and veterinary care.
