My dad Noel Bloxham’s fight for life
Wellington
UPDATE - We have been advised to get dad home urgently for treatment in New Zealand.
Please read update he is incredibly thin and unwell from the radiation and needs a lot of rehabilitation and further treatment for the cancer in New Zealand.
We cannot provide what dad needs in Vietnam and have exhausted funds at the hospitals. Getting him back to his home country will give him his best chance of some quality of life and to reunite with his family.
My father Noel Bloxham has lived in Vietnam for the last 18 years and is married to local Than. Unfortunately Dad has been diagnosed with Nasopharyngeal Cancer which they have found in the base of his skull.
To begin with Dad was being treated in the Saigon public hospital, where the cancer went undetected and untreated. Consequently his health deteriorated, he is very ill and has lost a lot of weight.
Unfortunately Dad does not have insurance, so family made the decision to fund and transfer Dad to private care, where thankfully a CT scan found the cancer. We have been advised by the Oncologist that with chemo and radiotherapy treatment he has a 80 percent chance of recovery.
The logistics have been tolling both with Covid and the language barriers, we wanted to bring Dad home for treatment but that is not possible, we can’t even be there to hold his hand.
The costs for the private hospital and accommodation are mounting up and we are now forced to explore every avenue for funding.
For anyone that knows Dad and wants to help him fight his cancer battle by donating, we would be eternally grateful.

THANK YOU 24 August 2021
I am sorry this has not been sent earlier but as all of you know dad lost his battle and passed in May 21st.
Than, Liana and I would like to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your generous donations and kind wishes. The money was used to pay his medical bills and the treatment at the time allowed us to get him to Qui Nhon where he was so much happier to be in his own home surrounded by his Vietnamese family. Again thankyou so much for your support.
