Help my beard SAVE a LIFE - It could be yours.

$2,570 of $2,650 goal
Given by 45 generous donors in 8 weeks

$2650 will help Life Flight save ONE LIFE. I am growing my beard and will give the highest sponsor the chance to shave it off.

Wellington

Everyone knows the Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

What people don't know is that on average it costs Life Flight approximately $5000 per rescue mission.

Government funding only covers half of this.

My goal is to raise enough money (with your assistance) to save one life. I am seeking sponsorship to grow out my beard during our fundraising period.

Every donation, no matter what size will be appreciated!!

The highest individual donation will also be given the chance to shave my off beard at a Wellington Westpac event - Please make you donation identifiable if you wish to take up this offer.

Background:

I started growing my beard in 2006 to hide my baby face. At the time my wife was against this idea but she has since grown to love it (hopefully my only pun...).

Since 2006, I have been clean shaven once and this was to raise funds during Movember in 2012.

It is now my beard's turn to raise funds for the Wellington's Westpac Rescue Helicopter.

Is my beard hiding the face of a 12yo boy? I hope not... but time will tell.

Please start donating now.

Westpac Chopper Appeal's involvement (page creator)

My name is Brad McCarthy and I have admired the Westpac Rescue Helicopter ever since I was a 5yo boy and this is my chance to give back. I now work for Westpac and I am a dedicated Chopper Champ.

Every year, during the month of May, Westpac employees get out into their community to help raise funds for Life Flight.

Apart from helping organise other key fundraising events with Westpac during May, I want to put myself out there to raise enough money on my own to save one life.

Use of funds

All funds raised will go directly to the Wellington Rescue Helicopter.

Donations will paid directly to our Westpac Chopper Appeal account.

Wowza...look at the donations roll in!  9 June 2017

Hey all, only 3 days left for anyone wishing to donate to Life Flight through my campaign.

I have had lots of fun so far and the extra hair on my face has not gone unnoticed!

I have been extremely lucky to have been supported by my wonderful customers, friends and family.

Up until this last push, I have been mindful of asking my work colleagues to donate as throughout the month of May we give so much of our time and our own money to put on events to raise awareness and funds for Life Flight so I am mostly pleased to say that so far $2000 of the $2220 has been external sources.

If anyone out there has made a donation and is looking for a receipt to claim it back in tax, please let me know by emailing me at brad_mccarthy@westpac.co.nz. The team at Life Flight are very accommodating with this.

If you are thinking about donating please do so now. The momentum as we close in to the last day of fundraising has been inspiring.

What we have already achieved for Life Flight has made me very proud.

Thank you all again for your support!

After the final donations are in there will only be one thing left to do with my beard....Chopper!! (Thanks Emz for that bit of inspiration)
