Ootheca: Student Short Film About Really Big Bugs

I'm an honours student studying in my 4th and final year at Massey University.

Batchelor of Screen Arts with a major in Film Production.

This year I am writing, directing, producing and editing a 15-20 minute short film.

A creature feature horror, inspired by 70's, 80's and early 90's B-movies. Incorporated with my love for the natural world and biology.

Ootheca at it's surface is a campy blood and guts movie. However at it's core, it's a story about being careful with what we take from the environment and how we can often misunderstand wild animals, especially insects and other arthropods.

Logline of the film:

When young ecology student Quinn, takes a strange pod from the forest. It provokes giant insects of prehistory to try and reclaim what is theirs.
