Help us build a new and uniquely magical playground for the future children of Oromahoe Kindergarten.
Kerikeri, Northland
The original kindergarten playground was a labour of love, built by our community ten years ago.
Two large, old tree stumps were transformed into a unique climbing structure. With their beautiful native wildlife carvings, they became icons to all who passed through our doors. But despite the joy they brought to our tamariki, time weathered these beloved stumps, and ultimately rendered them unsafe to use.
In their place, we want to build a new structure in the same spirit; one that engages the community, reimagines the space and brings joy to our tamariki for another ten years.
Unlike other educational organisations, Oromahoe Kindergarten does not receive government funding. Because of this, we rely on the contributions of volunteers and whānau to keep our kindergarten affordable, and to bring great community projects to life.
With your help, we can create something truly remarkable that keeps our children at its heart. At less than the cost of a commercial playground, it’s an opportunity we are really excited about.
Let’s make it happen!
We believe childhood is a wonderous time, and education should be about creating balanced, creative and insightful young citizens. As a charitable trust we are committed to uplifting the lives of whanau through Waldorf philosophies and improve outcomes for parents and their children. We have done so through the Oromahoe Kindergarten for over 10 years, and aim to expand on this over the next 10 years with a Primary School and Community Education programme.
The money will be spent to enable a community design, acquire materials and empower the community to build this ourselves.
