Our munchkin Jello

Our beloved little munchkin cat, Jello, is critically unwell and fighting for her life currently at Waikato After Hours Veterinary Hospital.

We came home from work to find that she was struggling to breathe. We rushed her straight to the emergency vet, where she deteriorated rapidly — she could barely move and lost bladder control while I was holding her. It was terrifying.

Jello is now in intensive care. The vets have confirmed she has pyothorax which is pus around her lungs and is a serious condition that requires urgent and extensive treatment and bilateral chest drains, she also has slight pneumonia. The estimated cost is over $9,000. We have already spent $2,500 and are completely stretched financially.

Jello is not “just a pet” — she is family. She is still young, full of personality, and has so many good years ahead of her. We cannot bring ourselves to choose euthanasia when there is a real chance to treat her and give her the life she deserves.

Asking for help doesn’t come easily. We are doing everything we can on our end, including selling belongings and looking for other ways to raise funds. We know this is a hard time of year and that many people are already under financial pressure, so please know there is absolutely no expectation.
