Plains Railway Turntable Installation

Help us restore the former Linwood Locomotive Depot turntable for use at The Plains Museum.

We've recently acquired the turntable from the former Linwood Locomotive Depot in Christchurch and are now fundraising to install it in the near future.

Turntables are used for turning engines and carriage so they can run in the opposite direction, opening our railway up to some different operations and allowing excursion trains from Christchurch or beyond to visit us.

Travel back in time with The Plains Vintage Railway & Historical Museum, preserving a century-old railway. Enjoy a nostalgic train ride, explore captivating Village Building exhibits, including historic vintage farm machinery and see a Blacksmith at work.
