PLEASE HELP – Homelessness, Assault, Injury, Cancer & Debt
Hi, my name is Nick Starrett, and I’m reaching out to you, because I’m in a desperate situation.
Over the past two years, life has spiraled out of control. I was assaulted while staying in unsafe halfway houses—ending up in hospital with stab wounds, nine broken ribs, a pneumothorax, collapsed lung, and a fractured eye socket. After that, I had no choice but to live in my car for a while.
This winter I moved into a cold, rundown carport. It’s freezing in winter, barely livable, but one step above living in the car. At 59, I lost my job, and despite my skills, age discrimination has made it almost impossible to find work. I now also have heart problems, and high blood pressure. My debts are getting worse, bills are piling up, and I’ve been threatened with bankruptcy.
To make things even harder, my daughter was diagnosed with cancer at just 13 years old. It’s been an overwhelming time.
I’m trying to raise $25,000 to clear urgent debts, maintain and fix my car (my only way to get around), and work towards finding safe and stable housing.
If you can help? Anything at all - it would mean the world to me . Your donation will make a difference. Even if that difference is between sleeping rough, or finally getting a fresh start.
Please consider donating or sharing my story.
Thank you for your kindness and support.
