Jays road to recovery will be slow & rehab will not start for 8weeks . Jay will be unable to work for some time.
Waikato
On the 18th of August while snowboarding on Whakapapa Jay slipped and fell 5m off a drop landing head first in a hole in the ice just a few metres from hitting the ground .
Although the hole saved him the ice broke C6 & C7 of his cervical spine. He was airlifted to Waikato and a fusion of 3 vertebrae was successful with no paralysis.
Jay is now on the long road to recovery which may take up to a year. Any help will Nobel very appreciated.
This give a little page is to benefit my son Jay who had broke his neck snowboarding 10 days ago.Jay is making good progress but has a long recovery ahead .
Money raised will go towards living costs, alternative medicines not covered by A.C.C, Alternative rehabilitation providers to provide Jay the best chance at a full recovery, medical surcharges not covered by A.C.C , and equipment not covered.
New beginnings 15 January 2020
Happy new year everyone!
20/20 is going to be the best year yet .
Looking back at my recovery I have so many things to be thankful for and you are all part of those thoughts 🙏.
My recovery would not have been the same if were not for your kind and encouraging messages and your donations.
I have been able to extend my pool and gym rehab and am now past the past Management stage and onto upper body training and my physio is pleased with the outcome as am I .
I have an MRI scan follow up in early February to see if my bone fusion has taken which means I can ease back to surfing and work .. that’ll be another great couple of days !
Elysia amd I recently walked to the Tarawera falls which was a magic day and one to remember. Each journey now makes me realise just how precious life is and how lucky I am to be surrounded by such amazing friends and family .
