Jay was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel adenocarcinoma metastatic cancer. Jay is brave and determined to fight the cancer!
Whangarei, Northland
Jay was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel adenocarcinoma metastatic cancer in August 2024. This is devastating news for Jay, her partner Mikale and their three children. Jay is only 38 and the children are 15, 9 and 2. Jay is determined and brave and will do everything she can to fight both for herself and her lovely family!
This diagnosis has hit everyone hard and means their whole life changes swiftly. Jay is unable to work at the job she loved so much and the impact financially for the family who recently bought their own home is significant. At such a stressful time, upheaval and change for the family is a burden that comes with this cancer diagnosis.
Jay is receiving palliative care which consists of chemotherapy for the first three months. There are other treatments available but these are unfunded and costly. We know there is immense support from Jay’s community wanting to help her with her battle in whatever way practically possible. In setting up this page we hope this provides a way for Jay’s family, friends and supporters to provide their help. We love Jay so much and she deserves only the best care available now and the treatments yet unknown.
Every donation whatever the size will go a long way to relieving the stress and pressure on this young family and give them more time to focus on spending quality time together. We are very thankful for any support which helps Jay and the family during this difficult time as Jay takes on the fight to kick cancer's arse!
Jay is my daughter-in-law (and my dearest friend). Jay is mother to my grandchildren. Jay is an integral member of our family who we love very very much.
The cost of Specialist consultations, tests and treatments that are not funded. Bevacizumab (30k) which can help prevent the cancer cells from growing is needed now. Will also help the family manage the costs for travel, supplements, cancer costs.
14 Months into my Journey and a New Expensive Treatment 22 October 2025
We now have moved to a 2nd line treatment as the government was going to charge me 200k then another 50k for my next treatment. That's half of my treatment now. I still have chemo 2 days and at home for 48 hrs attached to more chemo. Every 2nd week my lifes on hold but I love my off week. This body of mine is amazing and I do look after it eating 70% plant based food, very minimal sugar, nothing processed. Exercising still a goal to get up to what was my happy place for 20 years so I'm going pinc n steel physio to help me. Latest scan was a happy dance! I had shrinkage in my lungs and everything else is still stable. So let's try keep it this for as long as I can. I look at my kids every day and just love them so much they are what keeps me fighting. I still need to see my littlest reach school! There are hard days physically, emotionally. Cancer really has to be one of the most horrible toughest diseases to effect you and the wider family! I'm forever lucky and grateful to have such loving supportive family. They love, support and everything in between. They need a medal and deserve the world. Thank you to all my people and friends. Please keep supporting me and my family. 13k a month for treatment causes a huge financial strain and pressure on everybody. Still hoping one day it's free for me. Being here and watching my darlings grow up for as long as I can. Love and appreciate your support as always. Cancer is only a chapter in my life it doesn't define my whole story. Jay
