Our fur baby needs your help
Drury, Auckland
Our beloved fur baby, Cyrus (age 8) has been struggling to breathe, swallow and is choking daily on large elongated and very swollen dangling pollops down the back of his throat. We took him to the vets last week and he has to undergo surgery via a general Anaesthetic to have them removed. At his visit, the vet also advised he has a tumour on his right eye that is extremely close to his tear duct and is intruding into his nasal passage. While under anaesthetic, the vet will remove the tumour from his eye and the pollops. This surgery is getting increasingly urgent! If he doesn’t get the surgery he so desperately needs, he faces loosing his eye, and possibly gnawing off his pollops causing him to bleed out. Town and Country vets in Drury have quoted me upwards of $1800, which we simply can not afford given I am so unwell.
Cy’ dog is a very important and loved member of our family, I have had him since he was 10 months old, He loves us, his family, and we love him. He is extremely loyal, loving, and sensitive. He is clearly in discomfort and pain and for us seeing him go through this is heartbreaking. We have him on anti inflammatories and pain meds to help him until we can come up with the funds for his urgent surgery. He has a lot of life and love to give and we simply are not ready to let him go! It’s just not an option
Please if you can help we would be so greatful - every little bit will help us help him get the surgery he needs
Thankyou for reading
All funds raised will be going straight to getting Cyrus the urgent surgery he desperately needs
Taking it day by day 25 September 2024
Yesterday was a day of getting used to things! He is up & about for short stints - mainly to go to the loo then he is back to bed or staying very close to his mummy or daddy. He’s not drinking but is eating small amounts of soft foods 3x a day with his meds
He hasn’t had a 💩 so I rung the vets & they said with the amount of drugs and fluids intravenously he had, not to worry. They gave us a follow up call yesterday morning, & are will again this arvo to see if he has started drinking. He is finding it difficult with his collar on, when walking he’s bumping into everything with his cone then freezing where he stands until one of us unhooks him off what ever he got caught on. He is sleeping lots but then gets up all space cadet like and stares at a wall or a dream catcher for ages🥹 His eye is very weepy, he hasn’t really barked at all but that’s to be expected. I am applying his eye cream 3 times a day. Scruffy has been an amazing little brother. He is always beside Cy & is being very good with not jumping on him like he usually does. Cy has his own pillow to keep pressure off his neck & he has his blanket to keep the two leg wound covered. Hopefully he improves a bit more & starts to drink on his own, but for now I think he’s doing amazing. Thankyou all for following his journey- he still has a couple of weeks of R&R. This photo was him about an hour ago after his meds kicked last night in with his blankie and pillow (& cone head)
